This Warm Apple Crumble à la Mode is everything you want in a cozy dessert: crisp edges, soft spiced apples, and that melt-in-your-mouth contrast of warm and cold. And because Alec Ice Cream is made with organic, regenerative ingredients and lower sugar, it turns this into a treat you can truly feel good about.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Apple Filling

  • 4 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced (Honeycrisp or Pink Lady work best)

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup or honey

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp nutmeg

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of sea salt

For the Crumble Topping

  • ¾ cup rolled oats

  • ½ cup almond flour

  • ¼ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

  • 2 tbsp butter, melted

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • Pinch of sea salt

For the Simple Date Caramel

  • 6 Medjool dates, pitted and softened in warm water for 10–15 minutes

  • 2–3 tbsp of the soaking water (add more as needed for drizzling)

  • Pinch of sea salt (optional, for balance)

For Serving

  • Alec Ice Cream, flavor of choice (Vanilla Bean, Maple Pecan, or Brown Butter work beautifully)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly butter a baking dish or small cast-iron skillet.

  2. Prepare the apple filling:
Toss sliced apples with melted butter, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and sea salt. Spread evenly in the dish.

  3. Make the crumble topping:
Combine oats, almond flour, nuts (if using), cinnamon, salt, melted butter, and maple syrup in a bowl until crumbly.

  4. Assemble + bake:
Sprinkle crumble evenly over the apples.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, until golden and bubbling.

  5. Make the simple date caramel:
Drain the soaked dates, reserving some of the water.
Blend dates with 2–3 tbsp of the soaking water until smooth and creamy.
Add more water as needed until it’s pourable and glossy.

  6. Serve:
Scoop warm apple crumble into bowls, top with Alec Ice Cream, and drizzle with the date caramel sauce.

✨ Tips

  • For extra warmth, sprinkle flaky sea salt or cinnamon on top right before serving.

  • The date caramel can be stored in the fridge for up to a week — reheat gently with a splash of water to loosen.

  • Pairs beautifully with Alec Ice Cream’s Vanilla Bean or Maple Pecan for that sweet-and-spiced contrast.

✨ This Apple Crumble à la Mode with Alec Ice Cream and Date Caramel is fall comfort food at its best — simple, nourishing, and irresistibly cozy.
