Protein Bagels
Craving a bagel but looking for a protein-packed version that’s easy to make? These homemade protein bagels are not only simple but also packed with nutrition thanks to the Greek yogurt. With a soft and chewy texture, topped with flavorful everything seasoning, these bagels are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a snack. Best of all, they come together with just a few ingredients and are ready in under 30 minutes!
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour 
- 2 teaspoons baking powder 
- 1 1/2 cups Greek yogurt 
- 1/4 teaspoon salt 
- 1 egg (for egg wash) 
- Everything bagel seasoning (for topping) 
Directions
1. Preheat Your Oven:
- Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper. 
2. Mix the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Stir the dry ingredients together. 
- Add in 1 1/2 cups of Greek yogurt and mix until a dough forms. The dough will be slightly sticky but firm enough to shape. 
3. Shape the Bagels:
- Divide the dough into 6 equal parts. Roll each part into a ball and then use your fingers to create a hole in the center, forming the traditional bagel shape. 
- Place the bagels on the prepared baking sheet. 
4. Egg Wash and Season:
- In a small bowl, whisk one egg to create the egg wash. Brush each bagel generously with the egg wash, which helps give them a golden-brown finish. 
- Sprinkle the everything bagel seasoning on top for extra flavor and crunch. 
5. Bake:
- Bake the bagels in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and are cooked through. 
6. Cool and Enjoy:
- Once done, let the bagels cool slightly on a wire rack before slicing and enjoying. Pair them with your favorite toppings like cream cheese, avocado, or smoked salmon for a delicious and protein-packed meal.
